Autumn Fair 2017

The weather was kind and sent a bright, dry day - fairly cloudy but with a little occasional sunshine - for the Autumn Fair.

It attracted a lot of people throughout the day although there were fewer stalls than on previous occasions…maybe, as like today, the crowd wanders through, rarely stopping to buy.  There were the usual market stalls plus others in front of houses and garages where the owners had done the vide grenier - turned out their attics - and a variety of wares (bric-a-brac/junk) was on sale. But, always popular of course, the beer van and champagne bar - and the kebab man, who is a good supporter of the latter.

Yes, I'm coming - just taking another snap.

Fag break from the caged-birds' marquee.

Bubbly, anyone?

A bit more space in front of the house than last week...

...and more people fill the benches later...

...looks as if our strip of garden is again threatened though!

Meeting up with family and friends for a beer and a chat to end the outing...those were the days.  Now it's just we two so we head indoors for a cuppa. C'est la vie.

In so many ways "fings ain't what they used to be" but I'm glad it stayed dry, the crowds turned out  (although we saw few faces we recognised - the crowds seem to have come from the wider area) and that we too were able to wander for a while. The fair continued into the early evening.

  1. It looks pretty well attended, and people have shadows - haven't seen thise for a day or two! Your photos capture the atmosphere - but then there's the sadness thinking of times past.

  2. Thanks, Alison - pleased the atmosphere came across. Yes, a day or mixed emotions for us.
