Don’t be fooled by blue sky…

The sun is shining, the sky is blue, as in my previous piece on Malta, but don’t let that fool you for here in north-eastern France the temperature is about fourteen degrees lower!  Just one degree Celsius today with snow and ice clinging where the sun’s warmth hasn’t reached.  Add the wind-chill factor and it seems decidedly lower.

A few photos from the warm car and others taken on a short stroll by the River Meuse at Consenvoye…

We head towards the ridge of hills which separate part of the Woevre Valley, where we live, and the Vallée de Meuse at Consenvoye.

Consenvoye is nestled in the Vallée de Meuse

 Ice sculptures on the weir!

Ducks don't seem to mind what temperature the water is!

Men fishing - or perhaps, more accurately, I should say one angler and three "advisers"!

 Anyone for (table) tennis?
Not today - bet there are more takers in summer!
On our return the area we call "Jacky's Valley" with its distant views in the direction of Belgium and Luxembourg.

'The edge of our home town 'neath the hills of Horogne and Romange.
Back home we enjoy tea and honey cake and light the log fire. But it was good to get out and enjoy a breath of (very!) fresh air.

  1. Always great to get out! What lovely scenery! I particularly like the photos of the ice sculptures. Not quite so dramatically cold here, but bright and crisp today.
