The owner is a descendant of the local famous painter, Jules Bastien Lepage. In the 19th century, Jules set up his easel in his grandfather’s orchard - now the parkland called Les Rainettes.
Ron admires a pineapple top (all the way from Birmingham!) four of which decorate each of the two newly-erected little stone bridges across a stream.

Under a terrace one of three bunkers in the park which were made by the Germans in the First World War when they occupied Damvillers...we investigated but it was very dark inside.

A lovely and obviously loved park. We look forward to the third annual event next year and hope the water-lilies will be blooming again...
