Round trip

After a grey, dry but chilly morning, the sun broke through the blanket clouds this afternoon as we drove to Azannes-et-Soumazannes and on two roads through the huge Spincourt Forest - not touching or even seeing the sides - then exploring roads to the east which were new to us…to Maucourt-sur-Orne, where we found a monument…

Nearby, an old water trough...

...with a very defunct pump!

…through Mogeville (no, we didn’t see any cats!) and out into wide open farmland surrounded by forested hills to Dieppe-sur-Douamont, through Bezonvaux, Ornes, Gremilly and back to Azannes.

Wonderful countryside.

As we neared home, a final splash of sunshine caught a hill-top.

This evening, we lit a log fire and I wrote this haiku...

  1. Pleased you got out and explored some more! I like the haiku, too, and the photos of course.

  2. Thanks very much, Alison. Amazed we are still able to find "new" roads!
